Our members enjoy the ongoing challenge of recording
ever-changing sky phenomena. Sometimes our efforts are rewarded with beautiful,
compelling imagery, providing but a glimpse of the wonders of the cosmos.
This page offers a sampling of members' images.

Aurorae
Unless you live in high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere or the Southern Hemisphere, aurorae are a rarity to see, not to mention photograph. Several members of River Bend Astronomy Club were in the right place at the right time late in 2003 and obtained numerous images of these elusive sky displays.
Comets
Although members of our solar system, comets have been a mystery to astronomers for centuries. Numerous members of River Bend have photographed comets for many years, with quite a few good images coming forth since 1996.
Moon
The moon is perhaps the first object that astrophotographers try to photograph.
Planets
Although several planets have been photographed by River Bend Astronomy Club members, Mars has been one of our favorites, partly because of the especially close apparition of August of 2003.
Deep Sky Objects
The category of Deep Sky Objects includes star clusters, galaxies, and nebula. Although there are a few representative examples that are visible to the naked eye, virtually all require photographic exposures ranging from a minute to tens of minutes in order to capture intricate detail and color.
